students are expected to write a brief reflection “paper” (1 to 1 ½ page) that addresses connections between their practicum experiences and weekly course content (readings, web-based learning, class discussions). The reflection must be uploaded prior to the start of class. Students can include parenthetical citations within the text, but are not required to provide a reference list. These reflections should demonstrate critical engagement with concepts, practice models, and field experiences. This assignment requires thoughtful consideration of evolving personal and professional views informed by:
What evidence base exists for this approach?
Is this approach applicable with individuals/families/communities from oppressed and/or marginalized groups?
3) What are the controversies surrounding this approach, topic or theory?
4) Is the approach compatible with our recovery orientation and applicable with individuals
from oppressed and/or marginalized groups?
5) Are approaches useful for crisis intervention or short-term work?
6) What did you learn about yourself in reflecting on this content?
7) What are the challenges to this practice model/concept unfolding in a dynamic political,
social, economic, and legal environment where people are served?
