Please have your critique/argument or question stated clearly and cogently in the beginning. You do not need to summarize the details of the readings, nor trying to cover all aspects of them. You might just raise one important insight that articulates one or two dimensions of the author’s major points.

Discussion Questions:
1.By reading Appadurai’s chapter, what is the relationship between knowledge and commodity? How do commodities connect cultures and societies?
2.In “Constructive Drinking”, Mary Douglas tries to give us a clear anthropological approach to drinking cultures. What are some of the valuable questions that interest you in her work? How do these questions help us interpret different modalities of cultural practices and uses of alcoholic beverages?
3.According to Bourdieu’s chapter, what does habitus actually mean? Why is it an important concept to understand class identity?
4.From a reader’s perspective, how do the authors converse with each other? What are the similar questions or problems that all of them have shared in their writings?
