1. Before reading/viewing any of the assigned materials for the week, respond to the questions below in this forum.

From your perspective, does our current criminal justice system “work”? Why/why not? In your response, be sure to:
• State what you mean by “work”. That is, if it worked what would that mean/what would it do/how would we know it is “working”?
• Explain what evidence there is to support your argument? (How do we know that what you have argued is “true”?
• Discuss what about who YOU are and the experiences you have had may be relevant to your perspective? That is, why do you think you think like you do about this topic?

2. After reading/viewing any of the assigned materials for the week, respond to the questions below in this forum.
In this forum, discuss three overarching critiques of the criminal justice system that emerged in the materials assigned this week. Be sure to look across all of the assigned materials as you do this (i.e., do not rely on one article only).
In your response be sure to:
• Thoroughly explain each critique and what evidence the authors/speakers provide that this problem exists
• Discuss your perspective on it. Did the critique/evidence provided surprise you? Why or why not?
