Choose a CCR to critique and provide the direct link to the chosen CCR in the critique. Your choice may be one of the CCRs found on the AGA website or another CCR you found elsewhere that is of interest to you. If your source is outside of the AGA website make sure your choice is a CCR as defined by AGA.
This critique will be graded on content in terms of “a correct answer” when the discussion requires you to address a technical accounting issue covered by GAAP/GASB standards. The critique will be graded also on your effort or attempt to provide a substantive response to the critique requirements. The critique is limited to 1 to 1 ½ single-spaced pages. Your case report should be in essay form with transitions between topics as opposed to answering discrete guideline/questions provided below.
In addition to addressing the guidelines provided below, you will be graded on the use of proper grammar and your overall writing ability. You must be thorough and succinct. At the same time, your responses must be substantive with limited use of direct quotes. You should properly reference any quotes or paraphrases.
Guidelines regarding the critique of the chosen CCR report include but are not limited to whether or not each page of the CCR is:
Academically Sound— AGA’s CCR Guidelines with content suggestions are applied to the four pages. Does the content show the entity has thought about the content suggestions and applied them? There should not be any misuse of governmental accounting terms and/or concepts.
Provides Clear and Logical Presentation of Work—The content on each page transitions well on the individual page. In other words, the items chosen to present on the page (per the CCR guidelines) are relevant to the guidelines as well as relevant to each other. Does it flow logically? The report should also transition well between pages.
Written Well—Any written material on each page should be concise, free of typographical errors, and exhibit proper use of grammar.
Visually engaging—The CCR should be readable and understandable to users (citizens). There should be use of figures, tables, and/or illustrations.
