Assignment: Write a 5-7 page documented essay (i.e. research paper) that responds to ONE OR MORE of the government AND Non-government goals, problems, or needs with Black America from the list created in class (available on CANVAS). Your goal is to write with a contestable thesis; an argument that someone can disagree with.

A good research paper should do the following:
Pose an interesting and significant problem
Respond to the problem with a contestable (can be argued against) thesis
Use sources purposefully and ethically

In this assignment, you will be doing all three of those things as you uncover your research, propose a solution, and illustrate your thesis. You must choose a subject that we’ve dealt with in class or from the book.

Make sure you aren’t just writing a report about a subject, you want to have an argument about that subject. I don’t want to just know that global warming is bad, I want to know WHY it’s bad, who it effects, what causes it, and what you think can be done about it. Make an argument, and use other’s conversations to help strengthen the credibility of your argument.
