What do you think about word of ‘Value’? What values are most important to you? Value can define as If you value something or someone, you think that they are important and you appreciate them. There are so many valuable things in our lives. It can be your parents, family, money, food, friends, kids, time, childhood memories, pets, ability to love or forgive somebody and a positive attitude toward life. But what has the most value? It can be different person by person. Some people think money is the most important, and some people think honor is the most important. Or some people may think both value are the most important. The most value can be changed by personal thought, own personality and lifetime experience. Think about the values that helped you overcome when you had a hard time. And think about the values that made you smile and happy. The 3 most valuable things to me when I put it all together is my family, time and dream.
My family consists of mom, dad and one younger sister. Me and my sister were born and raised in Korea. My dad was born and raised in Los Angeles and he came to Korea to study and my mom was born at Korea. And they met at their university. My dad had hard time to study korean language and cultures. He told me that my mom supported him to adopt the culture and learn korean. When I was young, he still had struggle to using Korean. But he studied Korean hard because he had to teach me proper Korean. At that time, I could feel how he put his effort into studying even when I was young. At that time I was able to figure out how he love me. From his effort, I was able to learn proper Korean and love. My parents always teach me how to be a good person by their own faiths and beliefs. My family has some rules. First of all, we must have dinner together every night. We spent time together to talk each other and ask me and my sister there is anything that they can help us. They were always there for me and tried not to make me feel lonely. They always listened to me and were already doing a lot, but they wanted to do more. Second, we didn’t have any secret to each other. We learned how to tell the truth. So my life was very fine until when I came to America. I came to America when I was 18 years old. My family decided to move to America for my education. It was right after graduating high school. When I moved to USA with my family, I was so depressed. The language barrier was too high to live in America. I felt lonely even though I came here with my family. I had hard time to get along with people and friend. One day, my dad told me a story about moving to Korea. He said I might be have same feeling when he was there. And he gave me some advices. He told me that go to church and hang out with people. And going to church actually helped me a lot. I was able to get a lot of informations that I needed to live at America. People ware nice and I talked a lot with them. They found me a good place to learn English and make friends. His second advice was to listen to pop songs. And I listened tons of pop songs and I fallen love with music and English. I have learned English with passion since then. He didn’t give answer but he gave the direction to overcome the situation by his similar experience. I think he is the person who can understand me.
