Broadcast Television Assignment | Online Homework Help

This assignment encourages you to think about the potential impact of media on audiences, focusing on broadcast television. Reflecting on your readings from Chapter 8 and Chapter 11 of the assigned textbook(Introduction to Mass Communication: Media Literacy and Culture – Baren, Stanley), readings I’ve posted on Canvas and your lecture notes on advertising, television and media effects, please answer the questions below. Assume I know nothing about which you are writing, so be thorough. Be sure to use all relevant terminology and provide all necessary definitions. (1) Briefly summarize what broadcast television is and how it differs from basic cable, premium cable and streaming services. (2) Briefly explain why broadcast television is considered a social force. (3) Describe the relationship between broadcast television and advertising and how it shapes content. Be sure to provide examples. (4) Summarize what we know about media effects and explain in what ways television’s influence might be powerful and in what ways it might be limited. Provide examples. Your paper should be approximately 5-6 pages in length, double-spaced, in 12 pt. Times New Roman font. You are expected to draw from the lectures and at least two other sources, one of which may be the course textbook. You must provide in-text citations and a Works Cited page. The official citation style for this course is MLA. However, if you are proficient in another citation style (e.g., APA or Chicago), you may cite your sources using that style. Whichever style you choose, be sure to maintain consistency throughout your paper. (For guidance on how to format in-text citations and your Works Cited page, the Purdue Online Writing Lab has put together a very helpful resource: https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/purdue_owl.html.)
