If you would like to do some extra credit for this class here is your opportunity!

Watch a fictional film or tv show or read a fictional novel about New York or one that is set in New York. Do some research about the time period, context, the identity of the characters and find one scholarly social science article about the context for the piece.

Then, write a one-page summary of the fictional piece, including the sociological aspects of the setting (time, place, context, what was going on socially, politically in NYC at that time, whether or not these were included in the fictional piece).

Then, write another page summary of the scholarly article you found.  Be sure to include in your summary of the scholarly article the full bibliography in APA format, the author’s field of study, the hypothesis and findings of the piece, and the methods they used to do the research, and how it relates to fictional narrative you studied.

You may do a total of two of these extra credit assignments.

You have the opportunity to improve one quiz grade by 10 points for each extra credit assignment you do.
