Evaluation Explain how you would evaluate whether the efforts to improve the health concern were effective. Include in your explanation the tools you might use to do this evaluation. Also, critically appraise your performance of the activity/project for this population. How did the population respond? What aspects were you most satisfied/least satisfied with? What went well (at least 3 things)? What changes would you make in the future (at least 2 things)? Conclusion For nurses, reflection is integral to higher-level thinking. You should be able to critically analyze scenarios and possible outcomes as opposed to simply asking the right questions. Acute perception of the entire situation will be obtained because you are open to dealing with the contradictions that may challenge your initial bias. Reflect on how your perspective of the community’s health and the national, state, and local efforts toward a healthier population has changed as a result of your fieldwork. Discuss the health of the target community population compared to national, state, local health findings. Discuss how the interventions used would impact at the local, state, and national level (include information on your chosen Healthy People 2020 goals). Site selection for community health educational project
Introduction
The following paper will provide a brief insight regarding the chosen site for my community educational project in order to have an impact on a specific problem in public health. It will outline the reason for selection and the timing of the educational program. It is necessary to understand the importance of community-oriented and population focused approach towards the practice of community health nursing (Stanhope et al., 2019). This involved active participation of public health nurses in order to bring the desired effect through services in public health. Selection of a site for this project is the first crucial step to implement such programs which will be further discussed below.
Discussion
The site for my project in this course is the school auditorium in New York City. The audience for my community health educational program would be high school students regarding the damaging effects imposed by electronic cigarettes. This presentation is intended to be given on August 1st, 2020 which is recognized as World Lung Cancer Awareness Day. This will be conducted after the pandemic of COVID-19 settles which we healthcare workers are in constant battle with at a global level. Studies have shown that on a national basis, more than 3 million middle and high school students were found to be using e-cigarettes (Modesto-Lowe & Alvarado, 2017). It is necessary to acknowledge the damaging effects brought on by the seemingly better electronic cigarettes, as it is heavily trending in use by teenagers across the city. The selection of the school auditorium as the preferred site for this community educational program is in order to establish maximum reach, so that the program is accessible to the public. Our target audience will be high school students along with their parents, so that a balanced awareness is created among the target community. The site will be prepared in a way that the audience is able to see and hear the presentation clearly, and arrangements for microphones can also be made in order to make the awareness session audible for everyone
Conclusion
As healthcare workers it is necessary to understand the importance of a community-oriented and population focused approach towards the practice of community health nursing. The site for my project in this course is the school auditorium in New York City. The audience for my community health educational program would be high school students regarding the damaging effects imposed by electronic cigarettes. Selection of the site has been based upon access to public and accommodation.
