What strengths and limitations does this approach to the study of politics have in explaining the operation of the issue: participation of women? It will be necessary to specify what jurisdiction you are analysing in your essay introduction. You can choose to examine Australia, another country, or even compare two countries. The issues have been deliberately worded to be broad, so you may narrow the focus if you choose. Again, ensure that you specify how you are are doing so in your introduction. N.B. We aren’t fishing for the ‘correct’ matching of an approach to an issue. In fact, less obvious pairings might offer interesting insights or the opportunity to be critical. Requirements Complete the below in the order outlined: Research your topic, including the political theory/political science literature of your approach and the academic, primary and secondary literature of your issue. You are required to cite at least 10 sources in your essay, half or more of which should be scholarly, peer-reviewed materials. What is peer review? How do I determine if my source is peer reviewed? Consult the further information provided on essay writing and contact the teaching staff if you have any questions. Write up your essay. When writing your essay, you should ensure you: Clearly identify in your introduction which jurisdiction you are analysing; and how, if choosing to do so, you are narrowing your issue. Cite at least 10 sources, with half or more being scholarly, peer-reviewed materials. Correctly cite all your materials in the body of your essay and provide a reference list at the end, following a style guide of your choosing from the library. Submit your fully cited, thoroughly edited, and word range compliant essay, with a reference list of cited materials, to the Turnitin dropbox on Canvas for grading. Encouraged You are strongly encouraged to ensure that you carefully edit your work. You can do this with the Arts Writing Hub, with other students, or with someone you are close with who is good with English. The key here is getting someone else to spot errors and holes in your argument. You are also encouraged to reach out to the teaching staff if you have questions. There are a few ways to do this: Firstly, check the Assessment FAQ to see if your question has been addressed already. Secondly, check in with your tutor in one of your drop-in sessions or via email. Thirdly, you can ask Dr Bromfield essay questions directly in his non-compulsory weekly half hour Zoom Drop-In on Fridays.
