Several days before the deadline, please post your response to the following question:
Considering an epigenetic framework – the bidirectional interplay between nature and nurture, let’s have a discussion about effects of environmental correlations – meaning the process by which genetic factors contribute to variations in the environment (as presented in Chapter 2).
Post an example of one of the following, and describe why it fits into that type:
a) a passive genotype-environment correlation.
b) an evocative genotype-environment correlation.
c) an active genotype-environment correlation.
Your post should be 1-2 paragraphs long and should provide your unique perspective.
By the deadline, reply to two of your classmates’ posts. In your replies, ask a question or for clarification or provide support or an example. Be sure to loop back to your own post and answer any questions you have been asked.

As presented in the Chapter 2, this bidirectional interplay between nature and nurture is the epigenetic framework, which suggests that the environment can affect the expression of genes just as genetic predispositions can impact a person’s potentials. And environmental circumstances can trigger symptoms of a genetic disorder. There are three types of genotype-environment correlations: Passive genotype-environment, Evocative genotype-environment and Active genotype-environment.
There is an example I want to share is an active genotype-environment correlation. A student of kinder in my class like computers very much. During the zoom class time, I notice he is good at so many skills of the computer. He is just 5 years old and I asked him how he knew so much about computer. He told me he was interested in the functions of the computer and the apps and his father and mother are both the computer engineer. When the kid asked the questions of computer he was interested in, his parents told him. I think the example fits into the type of Active genotype-environment correlation occurs when individuals seek out environments that support their genetic tendencies.

I’m using an example of active genotype-environment correlation. When I was younger, elementary- middle school I was really shy, with being shy I would seek out environments that would be conducive to that. Like being alone, avoiding large crowds, doing activities alone, or small groups of friends, etc. There’s a correlation between a person’s genes which are associated with being on the shy side. What makes this an active correlation is that the person’s genes causes me to actively seek out that kind of environment, and experiences.
