Description
Write a short essay that explores a topic. Your essay should have a title, 2 concrete references to the text, meaning quotes (with page numbers) and interpretations of the material you quote. Use the names for genres and formal elements (i.e. paragraph, narrator, dialogue, etc.); refer to authors and characters by name.
Make sure to include the original author’s name or source in the same sentence. If the source is not mentioned in the introductory sentence, include it in the citation. If there is a page number, include that in your citation. If you’re using an internet source or something else with no page numbers, just omit the page number. In MLA, there is no comma in the citation, just the source and the page number: (Lastname 10). Example: Notably, she argues that 1871 saw some of the “most dramatic political shifts in Japanese history” (Cwiertka 15).
Topic: Discuss how the narrator in Wheat and Soldiers (in the translation we read) legitimates the Japanese incursion into China for the audience at home.
