Write a critique on a peer reviewed journal article related to the concepts learned in this course, sensation and perception (e.g. feature integration theory, change blindness, inattentional blindness, visual salience, object recognition, facial recognition, motion detection, etc)

As mentioned above, a peer reviewed scholarly journal article that is related to a topic covered in this course will need to be selected. The article chosen should be current within the last decade, between the years 2005-2019. It should also be an article that features an experiment. The paper should be 4-5 pages in length (not including an APA cover page and reference page), double spaced, 12-pt font, 1” margins and submitted via canvas as a word document.

Remember the goal of this assignment is to review and critique a scholarly article that relates to psychological phenomenon(s) covered in sensation and perception.

The paper should consist of the following in the following sequence:

Overview/Introduction of thew article (total 1-2 pages): A description of the topic chosen. (For instance, if you chose to review the concept false memories, you should give a summary of that concept…or else the reader may be lost by lack of background information). Be sure to use your own words (do not use direct quotations). Also, the purpose and aim of the study being critiqued should be included i.e. a description of the main hypotheses the authors were interested in explaining.

Methods: Explain the research methods used in the study being critiqued. What experimental design did the authors use (participants, procedures, measures…)? Results/Discussion: Describe the findings of the article under review and the suggested applications of these findings by the authors. What are the real life implications of the findings suggested by the authors? Critique (3-4 pages): Describe any limitations or flaws you believe that may have hindered or altered the original study’s results. These may include theoretical, methodological or interpretations of the analyses. (Must include more than just a suggestion such as to increase the sample size). Be sure to support your critiques using APA citations. Improvements: Here you should include suggestions how to improve the study based upon your scholarly supported critiques. Future Studies: Based upon the original study’s findings, your critiques, and improvements, what questions need to be addressed next related to the topic chosen? What future research is needed in this area? You may reference some of the article author’s suggestions, but you should have some of your own ideas too.

An abstract is not necessary Please don’t insert lengthy quotes. Use your own words instead. Your paper must be written in a Times New Roman font (12-point), and it needs to be 4-5 full pages, typed, double-spaced, with 1 inch margins.
