2)What does it mean when we say that the Right to the City consists of the right to habitat and the right to inhabit? How does this relate to what Lefebvre calls the right to a “transformed and renewed urban life?”
The third question must me written in 3-5 paragraphs.
3) We’ve framed our discussion of cities in terms of three broad perspectives: “Cities as Publics,” “Cities as Economies,” and “Cities as Built Form.” We started by using Jane Jacobs, Richard Florida, and David Harvey as key authors framing each of these respective perspectives. For this summary essay, choose any one of these three perspectives and write an essay comparing & contrasting three or more authors or concepts from the course that represent that perspective. The essay will be evaluated based on your ability to show how these authors or concepts define either “Cities as Publics,” “Cities as Economies,” or “Cities as Built Form” differently (for example, how does an author use a conception of “Cities as publics” build on or differ from Jane Jacobs’s argument?). You must demonstrate close engagement with texts, being clear to identify where and how authors differ from each other or concepts imply different treatments of urban reality.
