Moment of Inertia (second moment of area) is an important property in engineering. We have to
specify or determine the moment of Inertia in order to analyze or design a structural member or a
mechanical part. Figure shows a composite area.
(i) Determine the location of the centroid from bottom edge PQ.
(10 marks]
(ii) Determine the total moment of inertia of the section about the line PQ. [20 marks)
(iii) Determine the total moment of inertia of the section about the centroid of the section.
