Life in the stars and in infinite space is a grand concept, and truly puts our miniscule lives
into perspective. Astrology has grown into huge popularity nowadays, everyone wants to know
what their “sign” is and how it can tell more about themselves as a person based on the specific
date, time and part of the world one is born in, to find their sign within the stars. Many people
also consider astrology to be a sham; something of the fools and even mere hogwash. Based on
research and the analyses of psychoanalysts and scholars, astrology plays a part in our
unconscious and personality.
Here are some questions that I have about the essay. Do you want us to relate passages
from the textbook or from what we have already learned in class? Or is it okay to just completely
explore the broad new concept such as astrology in relation to psychology? As far as writing
about astrology, the main point that I am trying to say in my essay is that astrology influences the
unconscious, or even the knowledge of astrology. For example, I as a Virgo, feel more
compelled to act the way that I act based on what I know about my sign. What I want to see is if
there is any actual relation to astrology and our minds, and or personality.

In this scholarly journal, it is revealed how Carl Jung believed in astrology and how it
does influence the persona of people and can reveal many things about who they are and their
nature. Jung finds that whatever lies in the stars has a deep influence on our lives, yet it must be
read and learned with caution and proper application otherwise it could cause misunderstanding
and psychological harm. His untraditional regard for the mysterious and supernatural set his
work apart from his peers. Like Sigmund Freud, he understood the importance of psychoanalysis
and the meaning of dreams, yet with his work the application of the astrological divinities is
what he accounted for personality traits and being.

A study is conducted within a university to find whether similar birthdates and planetary
alignment account for personality similarities that verify the legitimacy of astrology. In this
study, over 195 people of similar age are given personality tests and then separated by the 12
zodiac signs. The findings reveal that there is no direct correlation as to the zodiacs and the
personality. Despite these results finding that there is no correlation, the research suggests that
the 12 zodiac signs are not enough to clarify personality differences due to very stark differences
in planetary alignment associated to each individual’s birthdate, place of birth and time.

Based on this article, many millennials, as part of a recent trend, has shown more and
more interest in astrology and their natal birth charts based on a desire to have a deeper
understanding of one’s self as opposed to the other. Astrological matchmaking also comes into
play when deciding whether they should become involved with another. The analysis of the
writer explains that due to uncertain times nowadays, many seek comfort and even self-help
from astrology. Many utilize astrology to rationalize the negative things that do happen in their
lives or possibly how to even avoid being in them based on one’s mindset.

In this South African study, the experiment tests whether or not those who have the same
birthdate have similar personalities which can attest to the twelve astrological signs that are
based off of stars and planetary alignment. In this test over 65,268 people of roughly the same
age, different genders, are given personality tests and then grouped with those of the same
birthdates. The test is to see if those who share the same birthdays are similar to each other in
personality. Upon completion of the experiment it was founded that there is no correlation to the

personality and birthdates at all. This research finds that astrology and planetary alignment truly
have no backing in terms of the generalization of personalities.
