BUS 2303 CSU Angry Collegues Gender Stereotypes & Social Mobility Discussions BUS 2303 UNIT V DISCUSSION BOARD QUESTION

A co-worker sends you a business-related email about the new project assignment. The email has numerous grammar and spelling errors. His language is confusing and you are not certain what the message is stating. You bring up the issue and he responds disgruntled and angrily stating that it was only an email and you are overreacting. By utilizing the concepts from the readings for this unit, how would you appropriately respond to this situation as a professional?

I have to respond to my classmates board question this is what they wrote:

The way that I would appropriately respond to this situation in a professional manner is that I would first wait until the person has calmed down some. There would not be anything that I could accomplish nor get my word across while the other person is upset, they would feel as if I was attacking them. I would then compose an email stating that even though it is just an email, we still are at work and things still need to be as professional as possible. Also, I would explain how i was confused about what he/she was trying to state and I just wanted a better understanding so nothing could be interrupted the wrong way from my end. It is always good for both sides to get a clear understanding so information is not translated wrong from one end to the next.

SOC 1010 V DISCUSION BOARD QUESTION

What is the story of social mobility in your family? To what extent have there been shifts both across and within generations? What factors, such as family connections or historical events, contributed to the occurrence of your social mobility?

When following up on your post to another student, please remember to create a post that advances the discussion. Some ideas to advance the discussion include the following: compare and contrast your own story of social mobility, offer links or articles to further the discussion, ask a question, or apply concepts from the unit to the discussion.

I have to comment on my classmates post this is what they wrote:

I have a fairly unique family history that makes it hard for me to “compare apples to apples” and leaves a lot of gray area that could significantly alter my conversation points on social mobility depending on how I choose to consider them. I plan to keep it simple due to these reasons being considered.

I would say that my family has a fairly deep history in the “working class” and “middle class.” I personally have made a intergenerational social mobility shift from lower class/working class as child and young adult to more of a middle class/upper middle class as an adult. I consider “upper middle class” to be around the fourth quintile, noted in chapter 10, table A-2, which is an approximate household of at least $92,000. Important for me to note is that the cost of living in the areas I am from or currently live in are low to the point $92,000 can be considered as upper middle class versus someone living in a high cost living area (Manhattan, Hawaii, Etc) where that could also be considered as “working class” still.

I am currently working to eventually achieve an Intra-generational social mobility shift to the highest quintile referenced at $202,000. I would highly suggest others here consider alternate investment vehicles to create wealth because your 9 to 5 job isn’t going to cut it, you will need to earn income while you sleep also to really capitalize on social mobility through a higher earned income per annum.
