Example Objective: To introduce yourself to your classmates by providing a creative response to a work of art that moved you, and to reflect an understanding of the material presented in Chapter 1.
INSTRUCTIONS
Read and annotate Chapter 1 or our textbook, pages 1-13.
Present to your classmates a work of art that affected you profoundly, to the same extent that Keats was “transported” by Chapman’s translation of Homer. You chose a work of art from any medium–painting, poem, novel, illustration, film, song, performance–and explain how it profoundly affected you. You may create a Powerpoint slide(s), a video, or a short essay. Be concise! Your presentation should be NO MORE than 3 slides, 3 minutes of video, or 500 words of text. Your presentation must accomplish the following:
Give your classmates a clear impression of the work of art, so that they can “see” or “get it,” even if it’s entirely unfamilar
Give your classmates a strong impression of you, your identity, who you are as a person and as a reader
Convey your ideas in a creatively, clearly, and concisely
Demonstrate your familiarity and understanding of the topics covered in Chapter 1
