Did the Misfit kill his father? How do we know he did not?

When does the Misfit make up his mind to kill the family?

Why does he call himself the Misfit? He tells us, but not in a way that is exactly clear.

What does the Misfit mean when he says “She would of been a good woman if it had been someone there to shoot her every minute of her life?” This is critical because he is telling us that HE believes the grandmother changed at the moment she realized he was going to kill her. Did she change? What do readers think?

From what point of view is it that the Misfit can be seen as the most important person the Grandmother has ever met and the one that offers her something that she has just about missed out on?

What is a “head doctor at the penitentiary”?

Although the Misfit himself does not know, what can we determine the prison psychiatrist meant when he talked to the Misfit about “killing his father”? Google “killing of the father in psychology”

Which “father” was the Psychiatrist referring to?

This is by far the most complex and challenging read in the story before we reach Pedro Paramo. This does not mean you are a poor reader, but it does demonstrate that certain things can be very challenging, as is the case when we get to Rulfo’s famous work.

Knowing how to read different things is part of the more general knowledge of critical thinking.
