ENGL 101 KU Bulletproof Boy Scouts Should Defend BTS Idols Less Vigorously Analysis For this assignment, you’ll be moving from analyzing public genres to producing public genre
texts. First, you’ll be asked to create a public genre text persuading the audience to side with you on an
issue relating to a fandom of your choosing—whether it be for a TV show, a genre of music, Greek life,
a book series, a sport team, an artist, etc. Then, you’ll be asked to write a second text that is the same
except that it flips either the audience or stance.
You might, for example, write your first text for an audience composed of devoted fans.
Your second text might then be for an audience unfamiliar with or new to your fandom. Or you
might write your first text for the purpose of persuading your audience of one stance and write
your second one for an opposing stance.
Lastly, you’ll write a one-page response that should be at least 250 words discussing how
your shift in audience or stance affected your rhetorical strategies from text to text. You must hand this
(and all) portion in your submission. If any portion of this assignment is missing, I will not grade
the assignment.
