ENVS 345 University of Oregon Wk1 Personhood Ethics Reflective Essay Three-paragraph reflection, word count at least 550.
Your first writing reflection assignment asks you to consider your own worldview. More specifically, please take some time to consider what the concept of person or personhood means for you. Please write about your own ideas of the concept and do not refer to others’ ideas for your response.
Consider the following prompts in your response (you do not need to respond to all of these prompts, but please respond to at least some of them):
How would you define a person/what does it mean to be a person? Are only humans persons? Are some humans not persons? Who or what, from your perspective, are not persons? Next, consider the ethical implications of being a person or of personhood. If someone or something is a person, what sorts of obligations do others have to that person? If something or someone is not a person, what sorts of obligations or considerations are required of that something or someone?
After you have given the prompts and the concept of person some thought, please write a three-paragraph reflection, word count at least 550. Note that a paragraph is a collection of about three to five sentences organized around a central claim or thesis; a paragraph is not a collection of random thoughts grouped together. Your response should be constructed in well-organized paragraphs and complete sentences. Part of your score (1-2 points out of 6) will be based on the quality of your writing.
I will provide the Week One reading materials and presentation to each student after you have completed this first writing reflection.
