Summative Assessment: Unit #5- Perspectives- Storytelling
7A- Your summative will be due on Tuesday, June 16th. You will be assessed on
Criterion B and D.
Your rough draft/outline ready this Friday, to share during class time.
Overview of Unit #5
Statement of Inquiry: Storytelling allows groups to express perspectives on fairness
and equality to reach a wider variety of audiences.
Global Context: Fairness and Development
Explorations to Develop- Inequality, Difference and inclusion, Rights, Law, Civic
responsibility and the public sphere
The Summative assessment will be based on a design brief. You will create a design
brief and a storyboard with a plan for a picture book. Remember to consider which issue
you would like the book to focus on and how this issue can be viewed from different
perspectives. Examples include racism, environmental sustainability, discrimination,
poverty, child labour,colonialism etc. (see * Picture Books for Unit #5 for examples)
Create a design brief
*briefly answer the following questions.
Who is your audience and how will you address them?
What will make your book unique?
What will the tone of your book be?
Explain what the aesthetics of your book will be (medium, colours, front cover, etc):
Explain the text organization.
Create a storyboard either online or on paper (take a picture when complete) which shows your
plan for your picture book using text and images. You are welcome to add more rows to your
storyboard but 9-12 squares should be sufficient. You can also show your organization through
a slide deck.
Put all your information together in a BRIEF full paragraph
*use Point, Evidence and Explanation for your paragraph structure.
