Effectiveness Of Preventive Maintenance Through Discrete Event Simulation Read the paper and the article, also read the instructions for the slides before you start.
Its a Simulation class. The paper I wrote about this article ( http://www.pertanika2.upm.edu.my/Pertanika%20PAPERS/JST%20Vol.%2025%20(1)%20Jan.%202017/01%20JST%20Vol%2025%20(1)%20Jan%20%202017_0529-2014_pg1-16.pdf )
The slides should be about the paper, including the article.
Write everything that Im going to say in the presentation in the slides, Including the simulation model and the five phases. Also, what happened in each phase. Im allowed to carry note while Im presenting, so Ill keep the main points in the slides and Ill make some notes from the slides to read from, because we cant read everything from slides. Its 4 min presentation.
There is an example of the complete powerpoint slides attached below, but it doesnt have enough information about the paper and it doesnt have the simulation model, also not enough explanation about the phases. Its a simulation class, so it should focus more in the simulation. Dont use hard academic words, make it clear and simple. Discrete Event Simulation
Discrete Event Simulation
Introduction
Preventive Maintenance (PM) is a predetermined task that is any maintenance performed prior to
downgrading in terms of the quantity or quality of the product equipment. The main goal of the
project manager is to protect resources, improve system reliability and reduce system downtime.
Recently, the implementation of PM has become an important role for preventive maintenance
(PM) in maintaining good equipment. Preventing sudden downtime and downtime during
production, especially in the production sector, will increase efficiency and reduce losses. The
Prime Minister encourages activities such as inspections, maintenance and repair or replacement
of parts after a period of time. In addition to preventing damage to equipment or machinery, pellets
increase reliability and reduce maintenance costs (Oyedepo and Fagbenle, 2011). Planning can
create competitive products on a global scale and analyze the impact of installation parameters on
preventive maintenance effectiveness by simulating discrete events. The parameters available in
this case study include the number of technicians, the number of operations per machine before
maintenance, and the number of parts ordered by the customer. This test will provide cautious
simulation and ANOVA techniques for measuring the performance of perfect parameters.
Methodology
Shop floor maintenance performance model approach utilized in the Article is aimed at
analyzing, the impact of conducting PM on the shop floor. WITNESS simulation software is
used for the model development, verification and validation. WITNESS is a DES software that
includes the visual interactive simulation. This software offers a visual display and a statistical
report of the replication results and thus, ascertains errors in the flow logic during model
building. The shop floor parameters can be amended at any interval throughout the simulation
runs, which are prominent for an easy model-building platform. The methodology consists of
five phases. In phase 1, shop floor analysis is executed to obtain a good understanding of the
shop floor environment. In phase 2, shop floor data are collected to develop the simulation
model. Computations of the data, incorporated in the development and verification of the
developed simulation model, are included in this phase. Performance measures are then
identified and selected. Next, the experiment is designed to study the effects of performance
measures. In phase 5, ANOVA is used to analyze the significant effects of the different shop

floor models on performance measures. The framework is discussed in detail in the subsequent
section (Abogrean, E., & Latif, M. (2012).
Problem
The case study was conducted at a company with a printed circuit board called the company A.
The company offers a full range of services and support from circuit design to prototyping. And
mass production until the board is fully assembled. The company focus is on punching services
typically handled as single-sided printed circuit boards and double-sided printed circuit boards.
Printed circuit boards are created by creating holes for other processes to meet customer
requirements. Earlier, this article focused on the necessary impacts of different parameters of the
production plant, such as throughput, mechanical use, and the use of PM performance by
technicians.
Key Results
According to the case study conducted in company A, the parameters of the production plant have
no significant effect on the throughput. However, the application of machines and technology
Discrete Event Simulation
depends to a large extent on the parameters of the installation. In order to achieve higher machine
utilization, Model 1 can be considered a higher percentage used by technicians. The method
developed in this study is simple and easy to apply to the actual industry. The five phases of the
program can be used in several workshops. The focus should be on understanding the company’s
current situation and turning it into a replication scenario that includes a list of employees
responsible for each task in the system model. Then, improve by including as much information
as possible for each task to achieve the overall productivity of the workshop. As a result, the
maintenance program constantly monitors imperfections.
Conclusion
This study demonstrates the use of DES as a tool for measuring shop floor performance, especially
if you need to change storage parameters due to maintenance issues. Companies can use
simulations to get profitable projects and predict future results in production halls instead of hiring
technicians. This depends to a large extent on their skills and scope of work. This can translate
into performance during business hours. Highly qualified technicians can reduce machine
downtime and compare the number of tasks performed by weekly staff with other tasks to
determine the effectiveness of the technician. Company A can use the results of this case study to
make informed decisions about improving drilling performance. This test allowed the creation of
an alternative design solution for Company A. Model 5 can be used to improve the performance
of the machine. The machine performs 100 operations of MP in 4,200 flights with two techniques.
You can use the model 1. In this case, only one technician is used, and for 1050 production batches,
MP is executed for every 100 series operations. Therefore, a systematic approach can be used to
solve unforeseen problems. These variables can improve the simulation model, taking into account
various installation items and inspections, which can lead to advances in performance
measurements during installation (Alabdulkarim et.al. (2013).

World Problem solved
Study was on a printed circuit board (PCB)
manufacturing company, which is referred as
Company A.
Company provides a full range support and
services, from circuit design, prototype
fabrication and mass production up to full board
assembly.
This case study focuses on the punching
department of Company A. The punching
department generally handles single-sided printed
circuit board and double-sided printed circuit
board.
Key Results
Based on the case study in the punching
department of Company A,
Shop floor parameters have no significant effects
towards its throughput rate.
Machine and technician utilizations are highly
dependent on shop floor parameters.
In the punching shop floor, model 5 can be used
to obtain a higher machine utilization percentage,
while model 1 can be considered to obtain a
higher technician utilization percentage.

Questions
Are there anymore parameters apart from the
ones discussed that may have an effect on the
throughput?
Is this the only applicable methodology or does
any group have an alternative one? And if so
how different is it from the above?
