A formal analysis is an analysis of the significant formal elements
found in a work of art. Choose three significant formal elements
that Manet used in his Olympia of 1863. Write a thoughtful
analysis that explains why these three formal elements are
important to the work.
To receive full credit on this portion of the exam, your writing
must include the following:
1. A detailed discussion of at least three formal elements.
2. A visual description of how the formal elements are used (what
do they look like?) and what effect they have on the painting.
3. Your submission should be no more than one page in length.
