Health Education Program on Young Adult Health Problem Program Project What is a Program Brief?
For this assignment, your program brief will be a 2-page summary of the knowledge surrounding a health education program. To write the brief, you should assume that the audience knows little or nothing about the topic and program. The brief should summarize the topics background and stakeholder information quickly and succinctly. The writer should be clear, concise and complete in his/her writing.
Format
For the program brief assignment, the following items should be included. Note that the brief for this class will be 2 pages in length. You will need to select a youth or young adult health problem/issue and then find an evidence-based program on that topic. Your brief will include:
Background: what is the youth or young adult health problem/issue? Include a description, any pertinent history and data (local, regional, national). This might include special populations that are disproportionately affected by the issue. Is this health problem preventable? If so, how? Is this health problem treatable? If so, how? Why is this a health problem?
Research and describe a current, evidence-based program on the youth or young adult health problem/issue. Fully describe the program and evaluate it based on the Characteristics of an Effective Health Education Curriculum (Box 2.3 in the text). To do this, you will research and cite articles that prove the program is evidence-based.
Please make sure to write clearly and directly. Proper APA citations are required. For this assignment, the reference list can be a third page. It is expected that at least 3-4 peer reviewed articles will be used in this assignment, along with other professional websites, such as the CDC. There will be some class time set aside for assistance on this assignment. Dr. Pappa will provide some examples of acceptable program brief formats.
Here are some websites that might give you some ideas. You DO NOT HAVE TO USE one of these sites, but you can if you find a program you are interested in researching further.

MGT 301
Introduction
For this assignment, I decided to explore the role of a Chief Financial Officer as known
as CFO. The main reason for this is because I am very interested in Finances and would
someday want to occupy this position at a well-known company, either nationally or
internationally.
Source : Payscale, 2019
I had the pleasure to interview Mr. Perrier is CFO at Electrabel on the phone for a total
of two hours. It was not easy because I had to take into account the time zone. We are 6 hours
behind the European schedule, so I had to make sure I do not contact him after 4 pm. Overall
the interview went well.
Electrabel is part of GDF SUEZ, an international industrial and services group active in the
energy and environmental sectors. According to reports by Bloomberg, Electrabel S.A.
produces and supplies electricity and natural gas. It operates thermal power stations fueled by
natural gas;, nuclear power plants, and renewable energy plants, including wind, biomass,
hydroelectric, and photovoltaic plants. Additionally, it offer services including installation of

insulators, maintenance of boilers, restoring heat, replacement of boilers, and installation of
boilers. (Bloomberg, 2018).
I asked Mr. Perrier to give us some information and advice on his Director of Finances career.
Interview Questions
Question 1: What studies did you do to become a CFO and what was your career?
I studied finance, management control and strategy at Purdue University in Indiana. I
then had the opportunity to work as a controller in South East Asia. From there, I traveled a lot
during my career; I first spent 4.5 years in Southeast Asia, then 4 years in the USA, 3 in Paris and
4 in Spain, and it’s been 4 years now that I’m in Belgium. Throughout my career, I have held
financial and operational functions with a mix of business and business activities.
I arrived in Belgium in 2009 to work at Electrabel, where I spent a little less than 3
years in the generation unit (production) of the company. As part of this function, I headed the
Finance department, but also IT and quality. It was after this experience at the very heart of the
company that I was appointed CFO. It’s been a year and a half since I was the financial director
of Electrabel.
Question 2: What is the role of a CFO?
The main role of a CFO is really to be the partner of the CEO and to ensure that the company
achieves the objectives set in accordance with the defined strategy. Being a DAF involves a
permanent work of advice, awareness and guidance from the General Manager and the
Business Manager. But guidance and advice do not stop at numbers alone. The CFO also has a
role in the management of the company, since he is also a member of the management
committee.
Question 3: Is it difficult to find candidates with the skills you are looking for?
Yes. In my opinion, it is quite difficult to find the right profiles because our business sector is
relatively complex and requires a wide range of skills. To be effective, you have to really
understand how the whole chain works. That’s why I started an apprenticeship program for
Zahid Aljahdali
MGT 301
which I recruit young people with a generalist financial profile and offer them a 2-year training
during which they change jobs every 6 months. Having specific goals and projects allows them,
at the end of the internship, to have a basic knowledge of most of the group’s activities. When
they land their first real job, they are able to identify problems, risks and opportunities.
Question 5: What is exciting about finance?
Well, at the end of the day, all of the company’s activities are translated into financial
statements, which means that you touch every aspect of the business and have contact with
most decision-makers. And if you work well and your analyzes are of good quality, you gain the
confidence of the company that you can guide, advise and stimulate. This is the most exciting, I
find: to be able to stimulate the business to be able to improve the performance of the
company and the group.
Question 6: What advice would you give to someone who wants to embark on a career in
finance?
My first advice is to not hesitate to move and take advantage of mobility opportunities within a
group or company after having toured each function to immerse yourself in the heart of the
business enterprise and corporate finance. To be effective in finance, it is clearly very useful to
clearly identify the needs and requirements of the company, and how the job actually works.
Then I would recommend spending a lot of time trying to understand the business because in
the end, finance is about translating business activity into numbers. And if you are not able to
understand the business, you will never be able to evaluate its performance or stimulate it to
improve performance.

synthesize information about that position, gathered from multiple sources, into a single report
and presentation. While completing this assignment, you will: gain experience in writing a
memo to inform, research an organization using library sources and organizational literature,
create an interview guide, practice basic networking skills through an informational interview,
obtain career advice from a professional in a field you may potentially enter, and examine how
professionals use written and oral communication in their daily work.
Assignment

your interviewee with information from three (3) outside sources to develop a two (2) page
memo and a five (5) minute presentation that covers the following topics:
A) Give an overview of the general profession you are investigating (such as accountant,
project manager, financial advisor, etc):
? Provide the position title
? Explain the responsibilities or duties to be performed in the job
? Describe the qualifications needed for the position, including education, experience, skills,
special abilities, licensures, credentialing, or background
? Specify the anticipated salary range for a new graduate entering this field and for a
professional in your goal position
B) Profile the person you interviewed and their organization:
? List the date and time of the interview
? Discuss the interviewees professional history, what was their career path?
? List the interviewees specific duties, what is a typical day like for them?
? Give a very brief overview of their organizations location(s), year founded, number of
employees, products, customers, organizational structure, and big picture financials
C) Offer a snapshot of how communication is used by the person you interviewed, their
organization, and the industry:
? Who are their internal and external communication audiences?
? What types of interpersonal, written, or group communication is the interviewee
responsible for on a regular basis? When do they make presentations?
? How do they use positive, negative, or persuasive message strategies?

Process
STEP 1: SELECT A PROFESSIONAL IN A CAREER AREA IN WHICH YOU ARE
INTERESTED. CONTACT YOUR INTERVIEWEE TO REQUEST AND SET UP YOUR
INTERVIEW IN ADVANCE. You need to schedule your interview sufficiently in advance of
the project due date to allow for proper synthesis of the information you obtain. Explain the
purpose of the interview; set up a date, time, and place for the interview. Should you decide to
record the interview, you must obtain permission. Please interview a non-family member. If
circumstances dictate a phone or email interview, please clear that with me first.
STEP 2: RESEARCH THE PROFESSION YOU HAVE CHOSEN TO INVESTIGATE AND
YOUR INTERVIEWEES ORGANIZATION. The information you draw from should help an
outsider learn about the field you have chosen. Use at least three sources for this project
(your interview is not included in that number). Use this research to develop informed questions
for your interview and to report on the profession and organization in your memo. Consult a
reference librarian, if needed! A recommended source for information on your profession of
interest is the Occupational Outlook Handbook, published by the Department of Labor. You
can access it online at http://www.bls.gov/OCO/. You might also use www.salary.com or
similar sites for information on salary ranges (salary range is not an appropriate topic to inquire
about in the interview session and needs to be researched in another way).
STEP 3: WRITE YOUR INTERVIEW GUIDE AND CONDUCT THE INTERVIEW.
Approach your interview professionally. Remember that you are representing yourself, the class,
and the Bloch School. Be on time (or early) and dress professionally. Take notes, even if you
are recording, as it demonstrates your interest. Balance your note taking with maintaining eye
contact with your interviewee. Listen carefully as you may need to add or delete questions
during the interview. Be sure to send a thank you letter to each person you interview within one
to two days of conducting the interview (you will not be graded on this, but it is the right thing to
do).
STEP 4: WRITE YOUR INFORMATIONAL REPORT AND PREPARE YOUR
PRESENTATION. Use the content and format guidelines listed above!
Step 5: Submit an electronic copy of your report to Canvas. This should include the Memo, the
Interview Guide, and Strategy Worksheet.
Step 6: Submit a hardcopy of just your report, with a completed AACSP assessment rubric.
