Chaos, Stress and Emotions are the best three words to describe this high stress
environment called emergency nursing. Emergency nurses have a great resource called
emergency nurse association. ENA provides a plethora of resources to help nurses and patients.
“ENA is the premier professional nursing association dedicated to defining the future of
emergency nursing through advocacy, education, research, innovation, and leadership. ENA
advocates for patient safety, develops industry-leading practice standards and guidelines, and
guides emergency healthcare public policy”(Campana,2019). ENA has a 2020 vision that
includes member growth, increased safety for nurses and patients and further incorporate
evidence based practice into the emergency nursing setting. Being a member of ENA brings
along multiple enticing commodities such as emergency nursing journals, monthly CE direct
hours, discounts and leadership development.
“Modern healthcare is always evolving. Providing quality care means staying on top of
the trends that impact practice. Nursing organizations offer a wide range of up-to-date
resources including articles, newsletters and webinars. These organizations also give members
the opportunity to influence policy that affects nursing at the state and national
level”(Nock,2017). Networking within the ENA is a great source of additional knowledge as you
are able to exchange information with other emergency nurses as well as ask other nurses
questions about topics you have or may have yet to encounter in your field.
The ENA like many other organizations has monthly newsletters that are sent out to all
their subscribers with changes that have occurred in the emergency nursing world as well as
changes they want to occur. They emails include anything from violence towards emergency
nurses to safe patient nurse ratios.

One of the great blessings that come with being a member of the ENA is the amount of
education you can acquire from them or directly through them. ENA offers online courses, CE
direct, specialized books and practice tool kits.
