The “Introduction” and the article “On the Peripatetic Life of Objects in the Era of Globalization” in Sheriff offer perspectives on how historic objects (ex. Mechenheim’s The Mass of Saint Gregory) depict two stories. Each of these stories speaks to different audiences. Write an essay that uses the key terms of Sheriffs article to explore an architectural monument discussed in the lectures. For whom was it built and when? What was it trying to communicate? What decorative or design features might have meant one thing to one group and another to a different group?

Introduction
The European artistic works were revived during the 14th century under the influence of
classical models. In the development of art, hybrid architecture, as a sub-component of art has
recently emerged. This architecture concentrates on the object, landscape as well as
infrastructure in its conceptual framework. The economic globalization led helped Europe to
import cultural products as well as works of arts from all corners of the world. These collections
greatly impacted European art ideologies and practices for several years. In his article, the main
focus will be on commemorative Funerary architectural monument discussed by Sheriff.
The commemorative architectural monuments were established for religious as well as for
social historian purposes. These monuments fill the interiors of the ancient parishes. These
pieces of stuff are the expressions of the ancient works of art. They are usually found hidden
behind the pianos, pews, under the carpets, and most common in the disused churches that are
not accessed by the public. Several researchers have sought to understand commemorative
monuments through various studies. For instance, John Weever sought to understand these
monuments in a study in British churches. This social historian described the monuments as
pieces of stuff erected, written, or made for remembrance. In his monument study, he also

included tombs, ledger stones along with other wall tablets. These monumental structures are
believed to have been made between the 14th and the 16th centuries.
The commemorative funerary monument carries a great message about religion. It is fitting
to commence an analysis of the impact of reformation on the memorial by establishing the
evidence of the transformed religious belief. The purgatory Catholic dogma was vital for
retrospective remembrance in the late ancient religion. The pre-formation wills depict that it was
habitual for people of all social classes to leave money to get funeral services for their soul, in
the form of diriges, obits or trentals. For instance, Richard Earle, at the eve of 16th century

something else to another group. During the 16th century, there were two superior inscriptions.
This era was under Queen Mary I when these two epitaphs have a suggestion about the Catholic
believe in Purgatory. The first caption belongs to Edith Bush who is commemorated by a plaque
in the Cathedral of Bristol. The caption directs the beholder to pray for the soul of Edith. Her
death came after the coronation of Mary Tudor, stressing the speed with which late feudal
