SCI90 Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band Monday Concert Report 2 Concert Response Format

The Basics: The date and time of the concert, the name and description of the performer(s) you saw and heard.
Describe the venue, the performers, the instrumentation, the audience, and the content of the program, and the circumstances of the performance. If it is a large ensemble, please do not list all of the performers. This information is usually contained in the program, so there is no need for you to reiterate it. At most you can list the director/conductor, concert master, and section leaders. For smaller ensemble (2-8 members) it is okay name them all. If you draw out a seating arrangement for the instruments, which I encourage you to do, be aware that it does not contribute to the length of your paper. You still need to write at least 3 full pages and please don’t use any of those grade school tricks to make your paper seem longer (large margins, strange spacing, large fonts, etc., etc., etc.)
Choose one or two pieces that interested you the most, and discuss at more length the pieces that interested you most on the program, considering your reaction to them in the light of the historical material and information of this class. The object is not to consider the pieces either “good” or “bad,” but to thoughtfully describe and consider your reaction to them as a work in light of historical and technical knowledge. Use concepts covered in the course, such as unity and variety, structure, purpose, tempo, volume, rhythm, melody, harmony, form, historical period and context, etc.
Choose one piece and write a one-paragraph biography of the composer of the piece that you have chosen. Properly cite the reference material you use as footnotes using the Chicago Style of citation and bibliography. If the information is not provided in a program, ask one of the performers. Musicians are typically very willing to talk to the audience members. If the work is anonymous, write a one-paragraph description of the work’s genre (e.g. symphony, jazz standard, sonata, traditional folk song, verismo opera, etc.)
Describe the performance of this work, and the audience’s (and your) reactions to it. Was the concert well received? Did you enjoy the concert? Why or why not?
Consider the performance of the concert as a whole and your experience of it with your broader thinking about music and musicking.
You all have personalities and opinions, use them. Your papers will be much better if you do.

For the first time to listen to the class music. The feeling this time is totally
different from the first time I came to the school concert. For the first time, I
just finished the homework assigned by the teacher without really enjoying the
happiness of music. This time I enjoyed music very quietly instead of just
focusing on notes and ignoring listening and watching. I was very interested in
seeing many familiar and unfamiliar instruments when I entered. I’m looking
forward to hearing the effect of their meeting. Instruments: piano, guitar,
saxophone, flute, drums, etc.
When all kinds of Musical Instruments are intertwined, it is a wonderful
thing to look carefully and listen to the sound made by one of them!
Personally, I think the whole concert may be more or less filled with various
instruments in each piece of music, but we are satisfied with listening to some
shallow things for those who are not very good at music. We are intoxicated
by the beautiful music. !
Before entering the venue, everyone was given a booklet with the songs
and instructions for enjoying the concert. The concert must be enjoyed with
great enthusiasm, the conductor or singing actors must be given warm
applause on stage; A piece of music at the end of the applause to thank; Be
quiet while enjoying music. All the musicians playing were dressed in black
suits and wore a red scarf around their necks. When they were playing, they
were so infatuated with each other, and their gestures were so poetic. At the
same time, their bodies swayed from side to side with the melody of the
music, as if their bodies and minds were completely integrated into the music.
They play their instruments like fish in water, and tunes pour out of their
hands and mouths, taking people to heaven.
First is the soul of the band – the conductor! I remember when I was
reading, the music teacher told us that the conductor’s ears are quite severe!
There were dozens and hundreds of people and instruments in the band, and
he could recognize any movement or phrase that went wrong. At that time on
the command of the line when admiration, the concert was fortunate to
witness the professional conductor style. Really happy! In other words, the
conductor is quite dedicated and polite.
I really enjoyed and was moved by the whole concert, because no
matter how good the performance was, the sound quality and auditory
experience could not be conveyed by any media. Cultivate students’ love for
music and their emotional education and cultivation. Even in the initial
introductory course, the arrangement of music melody and rhythm is beautiful.
