Cuyamaca College PA Personal Statement Essay Need help making the intro more appealing and interesting. i wanted to elaborate on how the healthcare system for underprivileged communities is flawed A cool breeze of air running through my hair triggered a cold shiver to run down my spine as I knelt down in a dark abyss of
tall grass and dirt, patiently waiting for a signal from our smuggler to let us know it was okay to proceed. A vivid image of my
mother trying to hold my baby brother still while struggling to keep him quiet, and my father holding me tight while he placed
his hand over my mouth to keep me silent still remains with me today. On that day, along with five other families, we were
able to escape the borders of Iraq to enter into Turkey. Our long journey to the United States was not easy to say the least,
however, it was not indicative of the chronic struggles we would face when we finally reached our destination.
When finally arriving in America we were met with a harsh reality of how life truly was for immigrants. Simple necessities like
food and clothing were hard to come by. However, the most important necessity, healthcare, was sadly flawed amongst our
community. The lack of quality healthcare was apparent to me as a child as I saw people around me be refused the proper
diligent care to help with their illnesses.
