I. Many people mimic their parents as a model (or completely opposite model) to parent their children. Which type was your parents? The knowledge of an average person about parenting is what they have experienced in their lives and from their parents.. However, psychology has recognized two universal parenting variables which gave us four different parenting styles. Please, discuss and give a “contextualized” example of four parenting types as what would they do/act on daily bases or specific situation. What are possible consequences of each type? Types of Parenting 1.Authoritarianparents are coercive. They impose rules and expect obedience: “Don’t interrupt.” “Keep your room clean.” “Don’t stay out late or you’ll be grounded.” “Why? Because I said so.” 2.Permissiveparents are unrestraining. They make few demands and use little punishment. They may be indifferent, unresponsive, or unwilling to set limits. 3.Authoritativeparents are confrontive. They are both demanding and responsive. They exert control by setting rules, but, especially with older children, they encourage open discussion and allow exceptions.
