I need a response to this discussion question below; The case study I chose to review is titled, Community-Oriented Mental Health Care: Assessing Diversity in Clinical Practice. This case study focused on evaluating two multisite community based veteran mental health programs. Both of the programs provided outreach to homeless veterans who reported having psychiatric or substance use problems. The study examined the implementation and utilization of case management to severely ill, high utilizers of hospital services. Study recommendations were not clearly identified in a section titled “recommendations” therefore providing a reader an opportunity to conclude their own recommendations from the discussion and the limitations section of the article. In addition to not having a section, titled recommendation there was not a heading titled “finding”. In the discussion, section of the article there a comprehensive discussion evaluating the data and the methods that included a brief discussion on strengths and limitations. The limitations included a review of the singular data point and the method of a clinician-administrated questionnaire. Limitations included the stigmas associated with the classification of the facilitator as well as the limited amount of data. Additional limitation was the inability to differentiate between the program facilities rather the strength being that the study was able to identify the program design as a strength to support further evaluation of types of service than the location of the service. This is particularly useful in that it provide direction on the potential for further research and uses the information in the study to guide future research areas of focus. As a social worker, there was a lot of interesting information to glean from this study. The most important is the area to focus resources. Future research in the different models of case management particularly concerning standard case management and intensive case management for this population.
