Learning more about Islam and the Muslim faith has been very interesting. Though there are a lot more similarities between it and Christianity, the main difference is that Christians believe that Jesus is the son of God, is part of the holy trinity, and that he was crucified for our sins and rose from the dead. It seems that Judaism and Islam are more comparable to Mormonism and Jehovah Witness, though I may be wrong. However, all these religions are centralized on the God of Abraham being the only one true God and are monotheistic. The topics about Islam I found to be the most interesting were the story of Muhammad’s life and about the Kaaba. Muhammad had to overcome many obstacles and had a much more complicated life than I had envisioned. I thought that it was super interesting that he was said to have ascended to heaven on a ladder and interacted with the prophets, including Jesus, and I am curious as to what exactly is thought to have been said between them. Though all these religions share many similar beliefs, they are each still very different from the others.
I suppose my biggest question isn’t really one that can be answered. It is about Abraham and which story of his life is more accurate, the Christian or Muslim accounts? Or do they each fill in the gaps of the other? Or were they completely different people named Abraham? The Christian version never mentions Abraham going to Mecca or building the Kaaba. All of this is super confusing considering there are so many similarities. I just wonder which, if either (or both), is the true account of Abraham.
