Now, as you prepare to become a professional counselor and have the experiences of many courses and your counseling instruction behind you, consider how you can effect positive social change in your in the counseling field.

In this paper, you evaluate strategies of how you might affect positive social change in your community as a future counselor.

Write an explanation of how you might affect social change in your community as a future counselor. Use specific examples that best illustrate the strategies you might use to demonstrate effective and positive social change in the community.

NOTE: For the last 9 months, I had been doing some outreach work in the Hispanic/Spanish-speaking population in my area, bringing them mental health counseling services that were previously unavailable to them. My approach to social change is to continue to develop my contacts within the Hispanic community and offer them counseling services. Perhaps you could use this as the basis for the paper. I currently meet twice a month with two local Hispanic community centers to assess their needs and the needs of the low-income families who may need counseling.
