Biodiversity is the variety of species living in the world. Biodiversity is important for the survival of species because we are all part of something much greater than ourselves. We need a variety of species to provide us with our food supply. Each species have to depend on another species for its food supply. Species have to eat other species in order to live. For example, birds eat insects, zebras eat grass, and humans eat plants and animals.
The destruction of the rainforest and its biodiversity can affect people living in the United States by not providing people what they need. The rainforest provides clean water, wood for paper, oxygen from trees, food, and medicine. The rainforest also provides people with recreational use like camping and hiking. Some people go to the rainforest to get peace of mind. If people do not have those, it would be hard for people to live a healthy and productive life. We need wood to build houses and paper to write on.
