Organizational profile
Schwartz Jones & Associates is a Successful law firm that specializes in Criminal Law. Located in
Downtown Brooklyn, New York (SJA) was founded by John Jones and Edward Schwartz in 1979.
Due to the expansion of the firm with new hires within their legal and clerical departments the
current networking system needs to be modernized and revamped. The firm recently moved to a
new 2-floor office building which employs 20 Lawyers, 4 secretaries and 7 paralegals with each
employee having their own workstation SJA has recently been giving the approval from upper
management to upgrade their current network infrastructure.
Overview of current network
Currently, Schwartz Jones & Associates (SJA) is using obsolete computers that currently run
on Windows with old printers as well as old-fashioned servers with unorganized wires
running throughout the firm. Hence, there is an urgent need for an organizational overhaul
to improve coordination across product line and promote collaboration among personnel.
The aim of this RFP is to modernize the current network, improve capacity, and redesign
the current IT framework by installing a new and advanced network system and security.

Overview of new network
Schwartz Jones and Associates is pursuing a request for proposal for Cisco switches,
access points, controller and necessary network cabling from a provider for the law
firm’s current network infrastructure. This project will be replacing the current
infrastructure and equipment which is old and outdated. Implementing a new network
system for SJA will revolve around purchasing new hubs, bridges, gateways, wireless
access points (WAPs), modems, network interface cards (NICs), routers, switches,
among other items. With the current budget allocation of $ 60,000, it will be easy to
purchase the most current hardware, software, materials, and services. The Internet
access for the new offices will require speeds of no less than 100 megabits per second
(Mbps) and a target speed of 1 gigabit per second (Gbps). This new network will allow
the law firm to feature a workspace for every lawyer in the office.

General Information
The purpose of this RFP is to select a vendor that will upgrade and modernize the current network
that is nearing the end of its life cycle. The selected vendor will have the ability to add additional
capacity, additional redundancy and increase the speed and bandwidth of the network. This task
intends to totally redesign the present IT framework being utilized by Schwartz Jones & Associates
with a new and advanced scalable network system and security. The RFP provides vendors with
the relevant operational, performance, application, and architectural requirements of the
system.
