Kalliope is a four year old slender little girl, who weighs about thirty to forty pounds and is
around forty inches tall. She is light in skin color with straight black hair, brown eyes, and her
rosy cheeks has small freckles them. She writes and colors with her left hand, but throws objects
with her right hand. Kalliope is able to complete some self-care task mostly by herself, such as
the pulling up and down her clothes when using the restroom and putting her back on. However,
when it time to outside putting on her jacket was quite simple, but zipping her coat or tying her
shoes was beyond her abilities as she turns to some assistance. When Kalliope is actively moving
on the playground, such as when walking her coordination is steady. However, when she
climbing, jumping, or running she loses her balance and will either begin to stumble and catch
her balance or fall to the ground.

• She can accurately name colors and objects that are familiar to her
• Kalliope is able recall information from stories as well describe how a book has a cover and back
• She acknowledges time, such as knowing that from the time she comes in the morning we have
breakfast, free play, circle time, learning time, etc.
• Basic understanding of weather (e. when it’s raining an umbrella is needed to go outside, when it’s
hot we wear sun glasses, etc.)
• She attempts to count using her fingers instead of pointing at objects
• She can sort objects by shape and color, but has not distinguished on size. She mentions the tower
is big while moving her hands outward, instead of saying its tall, which shows that she somewhat
has the concept of comparing objects by size
• She can recognize and identify objects and pictures that are familiar to her
Kalliope moral development consist of:

She shows empathy for other children who are upset by asking if you are okay and says things
like “did she or he do it” while mentioning a person name.
Kalliope shows helpfulness by cleaning up other areas of the classroom, when other children
need help
She shows some understanding to what right and wrong and the consequences that may follow,
such as by saying “we don’t bite people we bite food, biting hurts and it’s not nice.”
Kalliope social and emotional development consist of her being able to:
• She will share toys with other children as well want to decide which toy she wants to share,
but for the most part she does this with help of the teacher
• She will initiate as well as join in play with other children with little assistance
• She is able to follow simple rules in activities and games, but when playing a game she will
always want to win and will get upset if she does not win
• Her imagination is huge as she role plays, by acting out scenes, such as pretending to be other
people or animal like a doctor, teacher, or bear
• At times Kalliope gets bossy or even a little defiant when she wants things to go her way, such
as not wanting to take a nap
• She shows lots of independence, such as wanting to put away her own things like taking off
her hat and hanging up her coat
• She is becoming less egocentric, as she offers her favorite stuffed animal to another child that
she uses to console herself
• She is even-tempered and cooperative with her teachers, friends, and mother. This is seen as
she interacts with other and with her mother during periods of pickup and drop off as she helps
her mom with her brother who is an infant room of the center.
