You will be given a theoretical £100,000 to invest in the stock market.
You can invest the money on any shares in the London Stock Market.
You must keep a spreadsheet record of all transactions as part of your coursework assignment.
The Share Buying Process
Each time you buy shares you will incur a broker’s fee of £10 and stamp duty of 0.5% of the total value of the trade i.e. the price of the share multiplied by the number of the shares purchased.
The Share Selling Process
Each time you sell shares you will incur a broker’s fee of £10 but no stamp duty will be incurred on the sale.
Coursework Assignment
On 23rd April 2010 all shares within your portfolio will be valued at the closing price for the day after which you will have a further two weeks to write up the lessons you have learnt through this virtual trading. The best marks for this assignment will be given to those who have demonstrated a good rationale for their share choices and write up their results accordingly.
