You will write three (3) pages, typed and double spaced in 12-font, on the population/group of your choice, with citations in the content of the paper, as necessary, and a Works Cited page (not included in the four-page requirement.) You are required to use at least one (1) academic journal and one (1) other piece of academic literature, such as a textbook. Websites used need to be identified in your content and on your works cited page.
A “vulnerable” or “special” or “at-risk” population member is an individual who has challenges and/or needs that surpass those of the majority population members. These vulnerable groups share characteristics that cause each member to be susceptible to particular events and challenges. Vulnerable/special/at-risk populations include the economically, mentally and/or socially disadvantaged; racial and ethnic minorities; the uninsured; children, especially those in low-income families; the elderly; the homeless; individuals with HIV; the mentally ill and the chemically addicted. The vulnerability of these individuals is exacerbated by poverty/low income, race, ethnicity, age, gender, inadequate housing and inadequate education.
