The Assignment:
To be an effective researcher, you need to know how to find books, cite sources, summarize
information, and evaluate materials for your research. Prior to outlining and drafting your
research paper, you will need to specify a well-reasoned plan for conducting and writing up your
research project.
As you are reading your selected articles, plan ahead on how you might use them in your
research paper. Annotate the text, mark parts of the text that are especially pertinent to your
research and identify quotations you may want to use. This will help you save extra time in
the coming weeks.
Your annotations should not only describe and summarize the source, but also provide some
justification as to how the source is credible and in what ways it will be useful to your
research project.
