Description
The name of the curse is Digital Business. For this essay, you are asked to perform a short analysis of one study case of your choice. The study case will focus on one company or business activity that had to adapt its business practice because of the Covid-19 crisis. Any company can be chosen : from local 1-person company to large multinational company. The case may also cover a public administration, or a non-profit organization. For the selected company case, you will provide the following elements : 1. A short description of the company main activity, explaining where it operates, which kind of products/services it delivers, which kind of customers it serves. 2. A short description of how digital channels were used before Covid crisis to deliver product/services to customers. 3. A small SWOT analysis of the Covid-19 impact on this company (what were its strengths and weaknesses to face the crisis, what were the main threats, but maybe also the opportunities for this company when the Covid-19 crisis started). 4. An illustration of how one important business process of the company had to be adapted becauses of the Covid-19 crisis : o A BPMN schema showing pre-Covid-19 business process o A BPMN schema showing post-Covid-19 business process o An explanation of the main changes that were made in the business process o An analysis on the difficulties that had to be overcome to put the new business process in place o Is the new business process more or less performant than the initial business process ? Why and how could it be measured ? 5. An analysis of the role of digital technologies in the adaptation to the Covid-19 crisis : o How were digital technologies used to adapt to the Covid-19 crisis ? o What capabilities/characteristics of the digital technologies have been used to support the digital adaptation ? o Provide your personal evaluation of the adaptation strategy of the company : ▪ How did the company react compared to other companies in the same sector ? ▪ Were other, more performant reactions possible ? ▪ Could digital technologies have played a more important role in the adaptation strategy ? If so, how ? ▪ What would be your advice for this company, should a second wave occur in Autumn ? The BPMN process can be an extrapolation of your own understanding of the way the company is organized, it should be realistic, but it could differ from the reality of the company, as you might not have access to all the necessary sources to obtain the full real picture.
