COM 372 – Research project grading:
Written research report: 30% (100 points)
Presentation in class: 10% (100 points)
Written report – TOTAL 100 points:
1. Title – Select an informative title, make it attractive, but concise and clear. The
title should express your research topic.
5 points.
2. Abstract, max 150 words. The structure of your research abstract should follow:
Background, Purpose, Methods, Results, Implications (3 points each). It must be
a single concise paragraph.
15 points.
3. Introduction, min 600 words:
– Explanation of your research topic and background information. Include
previous research, academic papers in explaining your subject. You need to find
and read academic papers from the same field, similar topic and include them in
the topic explanation. 7 points
– Explain the purpose and aim of your research. Why such a research is needed?
Try to convince the reader that your research is a must. Read academic papers to
see how the purpose of a research is explained. 7 points
– Minimum 4 academic papers of previous researches, cited. 6 points.

4. Methodology 20 points
– Explain the process of your data collection: the method used (how did you collect
the data, which tools and forms were used), when (period), where (home,
shopping malls, etc..), who were included (friends, relatives, tourists…). Read
academic papers to see how the methodology is explained.
– Explain the process of data analysis: what did you do after data collection: how
did you create your database, tables and charts.

– Present and explain your Sample: Present your Total sample by demographic
data, using N and % in a Table. All demographical data collected need to be
presented here. Explain your sample within a text.

– Include minimum 2 hypotheses. Make sure you will be able (in the results part)
to confirm or reject your hypotheses by your questionnaire and data.

5. Results with implications 24 points
Present your results with self-explanatory charts and explain every chart with a
text (30-40 words for every chart text explanation).
6 charts in total needs to be presented and explained:
Sustainable tourism
– Q1 – preservation importance
– Q3 or Q6
– Q4 – impacts
– Q5 – tourism awareness
– Q7 – UN goal application
– Q8 and Q9 – both results in one chart
Every presented chart should include: a Title, N, Results (% or Mean).
2 points for each chart (12 points)
Explain every chart within a text: what the chart presents, 30-50 words
explanation for every chart.
2 point for each chart explanation (12 points)
6. Conclusion, min 250 words 10 points
Finally, in a separate paragraph explain your results implications: what are your
major findings, who and how can use your results, write your opinion and
suggestions. It is necessary to suggest why results came out as they did, focusing
on the mechanisms behind the observations. Explain why you think the results are
as such. For e.g. you can try to explain results of Q6-Q7 or Q8-Q9 by comparing.
7. References & Appendix: 6 points
APA Style citation references and sources:
– Every source sited in the text should be referred here in the References
and vice versa.
– Minimum of 6 sources inclusive of 4 academic papers.
